Abstract

Introduction: In this study, the authors present the results in application of SRS technique with linear accelerator machine for vestibular schwannoma at Hue Central Hospital.

Materials and methods: Prospective study on 9 patients with vestibular schwannoma from March 2015 to July 2019 by SRS technique with linear accelerator machine. Mean age was 53.44 ± 16.21 years old (range: 27-78 years old).

Results: The median follow-up time was 29.89 ± 10.23 months (range 18–48 months). The tumour size from 1 to 3 centimeter was 66.6%. The median hospital stay was 1.44 ± 0.73 days (1-3 days). The median marginal dose was 15.44 ± 2.56 Gy (range 12–18 Gy). Tumour control rates was 100%. The hearing preservation rate was 55.6%. The headache reducing rate was 66.7%. The dizziness reducing rate was 66.7%.

Conclusions: The results indicate that SRS technique with linear accelerator machine provides satis- factory results and should be applicated in treatment of vestibular schwannoma.

Key words: vestibular schwannoma, linac-based SRS
