Abstract
Background: PET/CT has been put into operation at Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital since Feb 2020. A primary assessment of the clinical application of PET/CT in the hospital is clinically necessary.
Methods: A case series report of patents with PET/CT was conducted at Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital from Feb to Jun 2020.
Results: In 209 patients had undergone PET/CT imaging, the top three common cancers are gastrointestinal tract cancer (29%), breast cancer - gynaecological malignancies (18%) and lung cancer (12%). After having PET/CT results: 63% patients with staging indications had been upstateged; 80% patients having cancers of unknown primary had identified the origins; 31.4% patients with follow - up indications had been classified as stable; 36.5% patients with response - assessment indications had been classified as progressive disease.
Conclusion: From the above report, the roles of PET/CT applications in oncology are significant.
