Abstract

Solid Pseudopapillary Neoplasms (SPNs) are rare cystic tumors of the pancreas. This disease accounts for approximately 1 - 3% of all exocrine pancreatic tumors. Most patients have nonspecific symptoms, including abdominal pain and discomfort, and usually occur in young Asianwomen, with a female:male ratio of 10 : 1. Complete tumor resection is the standard treatment even if the presenceof local invasionor metastasis. Patients with SPNs have a favorable prognosis with satisfactory results exceeding 90% when complete resection is possible. This article reports a case of SPNs in a 14 - year - old girl and reviews the literature on clinical features, diagnosis, and management of this disease.
