Abstract
Introduction: Nowadays, the life expectancy of Vietnamese people is increasing, accompanied by chronic diseases, senility, diabetes, and cerebrovascular accidents. Thereby, many patients have pressure ulcers. There are many methods to prevent and treat pressure ulcers. To reduce the consequences of pressure ulcers, we applied the superior gluteal artery perforator flap to treat sacral ulcers at Cho Ray Hospital.
Method: Retrospective description of a series of cases, Research location: Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery, Cho Ray Hospital, from January 2025 to April 2025 for patients with Sacral ulcers admitted from 2022 – 2024. Inclusion criteria: sacral ulcers of grade III, IV, Exclusion criteria: sacral ulcers of grade I, II.
Results: There were 30 patients, average age 39.2 + 11.76, youngest 19 years old, oldest 68 years old. The oval-shaped NXĐMMT skin flap was the most commonly used, accounting for 46.7%. The average flap area was 128.36cm2 + 44.68cm2, the largest flap was 18 x 19.5 cm = 218.5cm2, the smallest flap was 10 x 7 cm = 70cm2. The number of cases with negative pressure drainage accounted for 80%. The early results after surgery of living skin flap, good wound healing accounted for 90%.
Conclusion: The superior gluteal artery perforator flap for treating sacral ulcers gives good results.
