Abstract
Objective: Evaluation of feasibility, safety and effectiveness of surgical treatment of nephroblastoma. Material and methods: Retrospective collected data from 18 patients, who underwent surgical treatment in nephroblastoma at Pediatric and Abdominal Emergency Surgery Department, Hue Central Hospital from January 2010 to January 2015. Result: Age average 37.3 months, male/female 1.25/1, the most common symptom was adominal mass 88.9%, right kidney tumor was 62%, left kidney tumor 38%. 77.8% patients were treated with National Wilms Tumor Study protocol, 22.2% patients were treated with International Society of Paediatric Oncology protocol. Average operating time was 110 ± 25 minutes. Hospital stay was 6.2 ± 0.3 days. 33.3% patients were favorable histology, 55.6% patients were intermediate histological and 11.1% patients were unfavorable histology. Recurrent rate 11.1% in the first year, death rate 5.55%. Survival rate after 2 years is 94.45%. Conclusion: Surgical treatment of nephroblastoma is feasibility, safety and effectiveness
