Abstract

Hepatitis B is a very popular infectious disease in the world and also in Vietnam. Vietnam is located in the region with very high prevalence of HBV infection (15-20%). Aims: Evaluate the knowledge about hepatitis B of patients (transmissions, risk factors, prevention,...) Methods: 58 patients treated at Department of Infectious diseases, Hue Central hospital, since 01 April to 30 April, 2011. Cross-sectional study. Results: 70.52% of patients know that hepatitis B caused by virus; 56.76% know the main way of transmission is through blood. The risk factors are unsafe sexual contact, drug using in vein, health care workers,... Most of patients know the main symptoms such as anorexia (82.56%), sleepless (80.84%), jaundice (29.24%). 87.72% know the best way of prevention is vaccination. Conclusion: The knowledge about hepatitis B of patients treated at Department of Infectious diseases, Hue Central Hospital is relatively good.
