Ghép tế bào gốc không cùng huyết thống đã và đang phát triển nhanh trên khắp thế giới. Nhờ vào hiệu quả cải thiện rõ rệt theo thời gian, chỉ định ghép tế bào gốc không cùng huyết thống ngày càng được mở rộng, không chỉ trong bệnh lý huyết học ác tính mà còn trong nhiều bệnh lý lành tính khác. Bệnh viện Truyền Máu Huyết Học (TMI III) TPI ICM đã hợp tác với trung tâm tế bào gốc Tzu Chi tại Đài Loan nhằm nâng cao khả năng tìm kiếm nguồn tế bào gốc cho ghép không cùng huyết thống. Bệnh viện TMHH bước đầu đã thực hiện thành công ca dị ghép không cùng huyết thống đầu tiên, mở ra cơ hội chữa bệnh cho các bệnh nhân Việt Nam có chỉ định ghép tế bào gốc nhưng không có người thân trong gia đình phù hợp HLA.
