Abstract
Meckel’s diverticulum is the most common congenital defect of the gastrointestinal tract. It is one of the anomaly of the GI tract, occurring in about 2% - 3% of population. It can cause problems in the form of ulceration, haemorrhage, intussusception, intestinal obstruction, perforation and, very rarely, vesicodiverticular fistulae and tumours. These complications, especially bleeding, are more common in the infant and child group than in adults with more than 50% of patients in 2-year-old stage. SPECT technique with 99mTc-pertechnetate is a useful method to investigate that cause. In this article, a 22 - month - boy and a 7 - year - girl with recurrent lower gastrointestinal bleeding was reported, Meckel’s diverticulum was diagnosed with 99mTc-pertechnetate SPECT/CT. Patient had endoscopic resection and Meckel’s diverticulum was confirmed with pathology.
