Abstract
Objective: To evaluated the result of laparoscopic treatment in guinal hernia in children by Intracoporeal Purse-String method using adult laparoscopic surgical instruments in the start stage.
Subjects and Method: A prospective study of 31 cases from 1.4 - 11.3 yrs old, 20 boys and 11 girls were diagnosed and treated with laparoscopic Intracoporeal Purse-String surgery from July 2017 to October 2019, using adult laparoscopic surgical instruments (trocar 10 and 2 trocar 5mm). Evaluate the results: herniated position: left, right, 2 sides; Recurrent of heniography; Number of opposite hernias detected in surgery, uni/both-sided surgery time, surgical complication, Postoperative time, Recurrence rate after one month, Evaluation of surgical scar.
Results: 31 cases had 39 hernias, ages 1.4-11.3 (average 4.4), 20 boys and 11 girls; on the left 38.7%, on the right 54.8%, on both sides 6.5%; Recurrent of heniography 6.5%; Number of opposite hernias detected in surgery 25.8%, Surgical time on one-side/2 sides 40.1 / 51.4 minutes, No complications in surgery, postoperative time 4.0 days (1.3-7.0 days), Recurrence 3.2%, Satisfied surgical scar 71.0%.
Conclusion: Endoscopic surgery to treat inguinal hernia is a safe treatment, cosmetic advantages, detecting the opposite hernia in operation, low recurrence rate. Methods and tools need to be improved to improve the effectiveness of treatment.
