Abstract
Introduction: Le Fort II fractures make up relative large proportion in maxillo - facial trauma and internal fixation is often used. Technique of internal fixation with miniplates should be studied and propagated to obtain better outcomes for patients. This study aims to explore the clinical, X-rays features of Le Fort II fractures and the results on treating Le Fort II fractures with miniplates.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 102 patients with Le Fort II fractures were operated by internal fixation with miniplates in Hue Central Hospital from 2015 to 2019.
Results: Average age group: 19 - 39 years old (64.7%). Gender: male 81.4% and female 18.6%. Vehicular accidents are main causes: 93.1%. Clinical symptoms: face deformity 100%, step - off 100%, malocclusion 99.0%, tenderness 85.3%, movement of midface 85.3%. The medium period before surgery is 4 - 14 days: 63.7%. The result after treatment: good 92.2%, fair 7.8%.
Conclusions: This method have many advantages and we can use it commonly for treating maxillo - facial trauma patients
