Abstract
Introduction: Obturator hernia is a rare cause of intestinal obstruction and a diagnostic challenge. It is frequently found in thin and elderly women. Delayed diagnosis and surgical intervention causes high morbidity and mortality.
Case reports: this report presents two cases of female patients with a small bowel obstruction caused by obturator hernia.
Conclusion: Obturator hernia is a rare abdominal hernia and is usually perioperatively found because of its nonspecific clinical symptoms. CT scan is valuable to establish a perioperative diagnosis. Laparoscopic surgical approach could be used in uncomplicated cases.
