Abstract

Introduction: We would like to use the international rating scales to identify more specific and clearer results about anatomical recovery and the quality of life after cystocele surgery with mesh suitable through the vagina.

Methods: Description of a series of 44 cases in women during exercise treatment with synthetic mesh placement surgery at Binh Dan Hospital during the period from June 2019 to June 2021. Using POP - Q score, PFDI, PFIQ, FSFI questionaire before surgery and 3 months after surgery. Research data is statistically processed by R 3.6.1 software.

Results: 44 patients with a median age of 69, of which, the number of postmenopausal patients was 34/44, The rate of successful anatomical recovery based on the POPQ score after 3 months is 90.9%. Before surgery, the mean PFDI score of the study sample was 98.89 ± 30.61 and the mean PFIQ score was 92.12 ± 36.2. After 3 months of surgery, the mean PFDI score of the study sample was 16.27 ± 9.17 and the mean PFIQ score was 14.38 ± 10.74. Both scales above were statistically significant decrease, There was one more patient having sex again after 3 months of surgery and the FSFI score improved but was not statistically significant (p > 0.05).

Conclusions: This surgical method significantly reduces symptoms of perineal organ prolapse and improves quality of life. Although sexual function has improved, more research is still of the essence to clarify this claim.
