Abstract
Objectives: To describe pathological characteristics of sclerosing adenosis of the breast and study on revealing some immunohistochemistry markers in sclerosing adenosis.
Methods: A cross - sectional descriptive study was conducted on 93 cases withsclerosing adenosis of the breast diagnosed on surgical specimens according to the 2019 WHO classification at National Cancer Hospital from January 2018 to May 2022.
Results: Among 93 cases of sclerosing adenosis of the breast, there were 79 cases with radial scars, 82 cases with increased terminal ducts, 81 cases with distorted glands and 31 cases which were difficult to recognize myoepithelial cells evaluated simultaneously on immunohistochemistry. In the study, 2 cases were negative for CK5/6, but all the above cases were positive for p 63.
Conclusions: Sclerosing adenosisis diverse inmorphology, sometimes difficult to recognize on histopathology, therefore, it is necessary to combine with immunohistochemistry for the definitive diagnosis. P63 is valuable in identifying myoepithelial cells in cases where morphological evaluation is difficult.
