Treatment results of facial traumatic scars with fractional CO2 Laser

Abstract

Objective: Evaluate the result of treatment of facial traumatic scars with Laser Fractional CO2 at odonto - stomatoly center - Hue Center Hospital.
Methods: A prospective, clinical interventional descriptive study on 39 patients with facial traumatic scars indicated for Laser Fractional CO2 at Odonto - stomatology center - Hue Central Hospital from November 2021 to October 2022.
Results: The scores of POSAS decreased over time at 1 month, 2 months and 3 months after treatment (p < 0.001). Pain level during irradiation: 1 - 3 points. Side effects: skin redness was highest at 18.6% and  ersisted, after 3 months of treatment still 4.7%. Degree of scar recognition, grade III: 1 week: 75.6%, 3 months: 7.0%; Grade II: 1 week 23.3%, 3 months: 52.3%. Grade I: 1 week 1.2%, 3 months: 20.9%. The degree of improvement in scar color, poor color: 1 week 64.0%, 3 months 5.8%; Pretty color: 1 week 1.2%, 3 months 36.0%. Results of scar improvement at 1 week 0.0%, 3 months 86.0 % (p < 0.001). Patient satisfaction is 86%

Conclusion: Laser Fractional CO2 is an effective therapy for facial tramatic scars, with minimal side effects and high level of patient satisfaction.
