Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the intraocular pressure–lowering efficacy and safety of selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) in the management of open-angle glaucoma.
Methods: A prospective, interventional, non-controlled descriptive study was conducted on 71 eyes of 41 patients with open-angle glaucoma who underwent SLT at the Ophthalmology Center, Hue Central Hospital, from January 2024 to September 2025. Post-treatment follow-up was performed at 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months.
Results: The mean intraocular pressure at all follow-up time points decreased significantly compared with baseline. At the 3-month time point after treatment, 62/71 (87.3%) eyes responded to treatment. Complications were transient and insignificant. The most common complication was ocular pain (11.3%).
Conclusion: Selective laser trabeculoplasty is a safe and effective method for reducing intraocular pressure in the treatment of open-angle glaucoma.
