Abstract
Background: Germ cell tumors account for 65 – 85% testicular tumors and is 1 of 10 most popular
cancers in children. Children Hospital No.2 has no yet any study about summary characteristics of this
cancer.
Purpose: To evaluate clinical manifestations, tumor markers, ultrasonography and results treatment of
pediatric testicular germ cell tumors.
Methods: Retrospective case series of 56 children age from 1 day to 15 years are diagnosed testicular
germ cell tumor and treated at Children Hospital No.2 from Jan 1, 2012 to Dec 31, 2018.
Results: A total of 56 cases are detected. The pathologic results compose of mature teratomas (64,2%),
immature teratomas (5.4%), endodermal sinus tumors(28.6%) and seminoma (1.8%). Major surgical method
iscompleted tumor resection through inguinal incision. A sparing- orchiectomy is also another procedure in
benign teratoma resection. The median follow-up time is 39 months. There is a local relapse of endodermal
sinus tumor a month after surgery
Conclusions: Median age of disease is 27 months. Color Doppler ultrasonographic features with
increasing blood flow and no calcification in tumor that can be used for the suggestion of the malignant
tumor. AFP is combined with ultrasound made stronger in preoperative diagnoses. The rate of benign tumor
is more than malignant in histogoly of testicular germ cell tumor. Standard surgical method is high ligation
of spermatic cord and completed orchiectomy with malignant tumor.
