Study of doppler ultrasonography value in the differential diagnosis of breast cancer and fibroadenoma

Abstract

Objectives:

  1. Describe Doppler ultrasound features of breast cancer and fibroadenoma.
  2. Identify the value of Doppler ultrasonography in differential diagnosis of breast cancer and fibroadenoma.

Methods: Research on 84 female patients withfocal solid lesion detected by ultrasonography. These patients frequently have examination and follow-up at Hue Central Hospital.

Results: There was no significant difference in intra-tumor vascularization between two groups of patients. There is a correlation between resistance index and peak systolic velocity with the diagnosis of focal breast lesion in breast cancer and fibroadenoma patients. The resistance index is valuable in the differential diagnosis of benign malignant lesions with RI cutpoint of 0,745 (Se = 0,81%; Sp = 0,95%), p < 0,05.

Conclusion: Doppler ultrasonography is valuable in differential diagnosis of breast cancer and fibroadenoma.
