Abstract

Introduction: Evaluation of central venous oxygen saturation (ScvO₂) has been proposed as a prognostic indicator in several patients including sepsis, polytrauma, after cardiac surgery... Many study show the good value of ScvO₂ in monitoring haemodynamic and prognostic of traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients. In Vietnam, any studies about ScvO₂ in TBI patients.

Objective: Evaluate the value of ScvO₂ of TBI patients during the first 7 days and the correlation between ScvO2 and cardiac output (CO).

Methods: 200 TBI patients from 7/2015 to 5/2016. Descriptive cross-sectional study.

Results: ScvO₂ of patients with Glassgow 3-8 was 55.38 ± 12.27, Scv02 of patients with Glassgow >8 was 71.27 ± 7.43, CO of patients with ScvO₂ < 60% was 6.27±3.00, CO of patients with ScvO₂ ≥ 60% was 7.96 ± 3.21.

Conclusions: There was a positive correation between ScvO₂ and CO. ScvO2 is a factor to evaluate the severity and mortality ò TBI patients.
