Abstract
Objective: Evaluation of serum procalcitonin levels in patients with acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, the correlation between serum procalcitonin concentration, age, type of Anthonisen, body temperature, white blood cell counts, hs CRP and prognosis of severity in patients with acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Methods: From 07/2016 to 07/2017, serum procalcitonin concentration was measured in 65 patients with acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. All patients had made CBC, HsCRP, VS. chest x ray.
Results:
-The mean serum procalcitonin concentration at admission was 0.73 ng/ml, median was 0.09 ng/ml and discharge was 0.05 ng/ml, median was 0.05 ng/ml.
- Patients with serum procalcitonin increased> 0.25 ng / ml, accounting for 33.85%, and all patients with elevated serum levels of Procalcitonin belonged to Type I, Anthonisen, accounting for 41.51%.
- Serum procalcitonin concentrations were correlated with the number of white blood cells, hs-CRP, VS.
- The optimal cutoff of serum procalcitonin level in patients with acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive 0.695.
- The area under the ROC curve for infection of Procalcitonin was higher than hsCRP, with a value of 0.695; 0.651.
