Mặc dù không có độ tuổi nào là không có nguy cơ bệnh viêm liệt mạnh, nhưng ở trẻ sơ sinh thì vô cùng hiếm gặp. Chẩn đoán bệnh viêm tử cung ở trẻ sơ sinh được đặt ra khi có phù nề bụng, ban đỏ, trượt khối hoặc đề kháng thành bụng ở bể bóng phải. Siêu âm có thể gây ra sự bùng nổ và không có ích. Khí tự động trong ổ bụng trên X-quang, mặc dù không thể đoán chính xác, nhưng hữu ích trong việc xác định cơ thể và là dấu hiệu để có thể tiến bộ thuật toán sớm. Như không có mối liên hệ giữa Quát và chậm trễ trong dự đoán. Hiện tại tỷ lệ tử vong ở 23% vẫn ở mức cao không được chấp nhận. Cần điều trị sớm các trường hợp bệnh viêm ruột thừa có biến chứng giúp giảm tỷ lệ tử vong ở trẻ sơ sinh.
